Testing Process

Terra Analytical lab uses a prepaid test kit system which means we can start testing as soon as we receive your samples.  The initial cost of the test kit covers the sample bottle and label, FreePost outer mailing canister, testing and reporting of the results.

Most sample tests are covered by a standard oil test kit which can also be used for coolant (not fuel).  Fluid samples should be taken by suitably trained or supervised service technicians.  Samples are sent to the lab in Christchurch using the NZ FreePost or New Zealand Couriers outer mailing canister - except for fuel samples which are only sent via courier.  To request pick-up from New Zealand Couriers contact your nearest New Zealand Couriers location.

Once the oil sample testing is complete and the sample results have been reviewed and evaluated by an Interpreter, a comprehensive sample report is available, usually within two working days. Sample reports can be used at a high level to prioritize work by simply looking at the Evaluation Code.  These evaluation codes are best thought of as a priority coding system for any Action that needs to be taken.
